t the meeting of October 6, 1888 C.D. Terry was unanimously elected as Foreman (today he would be named Chief),
George Palmer was elected 1st Assistant Foreman and George Baker was elected 2nd Assistant Foreman. A motion
was made and seconded that the Company would meet each Saturday night and a committee be balloted for, to ascertain
what a truck would cost and to take instruction from the whole company as to what was wanted or needed. Also, a
committee was formed to get subscriptions from the residents to purchase a truck and pay for construction of

building, 8 ft. inside height with wooded floors to house the truck of the East Moriches Hook & Ladder Company.
The truck committee was empowered to use their own judgement in selection at a cost not to exceed $400.00.
|
t a December 2nd, 1888 meeting it was announced that all material for the building had arrived and construction will begin.
Three dollars were subscribed by members present for lamps for the truck house and a committee formed to
purchase same. The following resolution was adopted by a vote of the members at the meeting. Be it resolved:
"The trustees of this Company be and hereby are authorized to mortgage the property of this Company to the amount
of Four Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($450.00) previously appropriated and also to insure the property of this
Company and to have the policy made to the mortgagee as his interests may appear."
Discussion was held to the pattern of the new uniform that each member will purchase prior to July 4th.
|
he meeting of January 12, 1889 was called to order in the new Truck House on Main Street. The major
discussion at the meeting was that each member would need to pay 10 cents to receive a key to the truck house and if
a member loses his key he must replace the key at his own cost. Also, honorary members could receive a key as long
as they paid the 10 cents. All the necessary legal papers for the Company were drawn up by George T. Osborne. He
submitted a bill for $7.00 of which that amount was donated by him to the Company. A vote of thanks was given to him.
