Welcome to the Official Web Site of the East Moriches Hook & Ladder Co. No 1, commonly referred to as the East Moriches Fire Department, located on the East End of Long Island in New York. We are proud to be celebrating 136 years of service and dedication to the community (1888 -2024) as a Volunteer Fire Service. We pride ourselves on the experience, strength, efforts, determination and commitment of all the Members of the East Moriches Fire Department.
Our Mission Statement
Through the dedication and bravery of our volunteer members the East Moriches Fire Department serves to protect the lives and property of our residents and visitors. Through continuous training and preparedness the Department remains proactive, striving to keep our citizens safe in the event of fire emergencies and other incidents which may threaten the public’s safety. Department members are committed to providing a professional emergency service to the East Moriches community and to assist our neighboring communities when called upon to do so.
Looking to Join?
The East Moriches Fire Department is always looking for new members. You need to be in good health, and at least 18 years old. We interview and accept probationary members in June and December. Probationary members have 18 months to complete the required training. Most ‘probies’ complete training in less than 12 months.
There is a link to SCFA (Suffolk County Fire Academy) at the top of the Home page, which will allow you to review the training programs. There is no cost for this training, and several members have become professional Fire Fighters or Emergency Medical personnel.
